Ow! that sting sounded painful. Hope you're feeling better.

It's a good time of year to take cuttings - so if you know someone who wants their rosemary, lavender, sage, wormwood, curry plant, hyssop etc "pruned" you could get a head start on the seedlings.

When I got my first garden I bought "The Complete Book of Herbs" by Lesley Bremness and tried to grow every herb in the book!

I know what you mean about the hedges - it's neverending, and the brash you end up cutting off creates an enormous pile.

On the wasp front - it sounds like a nasty sting. My brother is allergic to wasps and has been stung a few times in his life - each time the reaction progressively worse...so its always best to avoid them...but wasp love eating those caterpillars, so they aren't all bad.
