I found that not shopping at supermarkets has really cut down my bills - you don't just pick up bits and bobs that you 'may need', so if you go to the market (cos we're not self sufficient by a long way!) you pick what you need....and then if you don't use it make a soup! I have loads of carrot (got too many of them!) soup and leek and potatoe (using the last of my leeks) in the freezer. good for when you don't weant to cook everynight. it is difficult living to a budget, but in this climate its always good too!
