Getting Your Veg Plot Ready for Winter

As many of us with our own little patch know, despite the nights closing in and the temperatures dropping, now is not the time to hang up the fork and spade. As I am all too painfully aware, there is still a heck of a lot to do in the garden before winter really bites.

Turtle Mat got in touch and asked if I could share any tips on their blog for getting the veg plot ready for winter… and I did! Check out their blog post on Getting Your Garden Ready for Winter here – aside from my veg-plot-based contributions, there’s also some great tips from Elspeth Briscoe from MyGardenSchool on Autumn gardening, lots of great advice from Helen Ellison of Floral & Hardy on how to keep your garden blooming over winter and into Spring, as well as some really fantastic pointers on how to support garden birds over winter from Clare Simm, of the British Trust for Ornithology’s Garden BirdWatch Project.

Got any tips of your own to share?

  1. It’s a great article Lucy. I’ve still got lots to do at the allotment and at home, but you’ve reminded me of a couple of things to add to the list!
