Daily Good Life - Almost Launched
As I mentioned quite a while ago, I decided it was time that us veggie-growing bandits from the blogosphere should get together and put some vids up on You Tube. Got the people rearing to go, but I have one problem preventing me from the launching our channel the Daily Good Life.
A damned cable!
My Dad has permanently ‘leant’ me an old 90s Sony TRV120E video cam. Great for shooting some film (don’t expect anything ‘tidy’), but I can’t get the footage onto my laptop. I’ve had a look, and I don’t think I have the right ports on my computer for the cables I’ve found. eBay just turns up batteries and AV cables - not helpful! I really don’t have a clue. If there was something that could plug into my USB I’d be fine. Any techies out there who can give me some pointers?
I really want to get started with this Daily Good Life channel - everyone else has been so patient waiting for me to get my bum in gear. There’s already a few vids up, but we’ll start in earnest once I get myself sorted - so if you can help, please do! All I need is this cable and I’m off…
And Melinda, I’m so sorry I didn’t reply to your email, I am rubbish and have been meaning to get back to you for ages - I think you’ll find that the answer you wanted is here in this post though!

I figured you were busy, not rubbish. ; ) Do you have a firewire port on your computer? From the looks of the cables on Amazon, you need a 4-pin to a 6-pin firewire cable, assuming you have a firewire port on your computer. So that cable is this one. If you don’t have a firewire port on your computer, you may have to buy a firewire card and install it in your computer, because I don’t think it would work to go from firewire to USB…

I know you have probably thought of this already but do you have a mobile phone with a camera that you could use? Mine doesn’t have a great camera on it but the films seem ok so far.
